“With the consent and blessing of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and after considering the views of the Johor Islamic Religious Council, I announce that from January 1, 2025, Johor’s weekend will be Saturday and Sunday.”
While this change has been approved by the Sultan, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and the Johor Mufti will oversee its implementation to ensure a smooth transition. To accommodate Muslim workers, businesses are encouraged to allow sufficient time for Friday prayers.
